Biography
Joren obtained his master's degree in biology at the KUL, with international experience in Denmark and South Africa, after which he started his doctoral research at the VUB. His research interests lie in aquatic ecology, macroecology and community ecology. In 2024, he obtained his PhD with a thesis entitled “The ecological dynamics of inselberg rock pool communities - from local to global scale” and has since published six peer-reviewed articles, including two as first author. During his PhD, he was also appointed as an assistant for various courses and supervised several bachelor's and master's students. He currently works at Witteveen+Bos as an ecologist within the “Nature and Water Management” team.
