Laura Bossaer
Biography
As part of the team of Tom Van der Stocken, Laura Bossaer investigates propagule dispersal dynamics in tidal wetlands (salt marshes and mangroves). Her research aims to quantify the impact of propagule traits and environmental conditions on dispersal, combining empirical data from field and laboratory experiments with modelling approaches to improve dispersal and biogeomorphological predictions. A particular focus lies on understanding how morphological (e.g., shape, size) and physical (e.g., density) propagule traits affect dispersal potential, and how environmental drivers such as salinity, wind, and climate shape dispersal pathways and seed bank availability. This work contributes to advancing knowledge on plant dispersal ecology and the mechanisms that underpin resilience and connectivity in coastal wetland systems.
